Aquatic Invasive Species Workshop

On August 23rd, the Early Detection and Rapid Response (EDRR) Network Ontario hosted an Aquatic Invasive Species Workshop in Sault Ste. Marie. This full day event welcomed 35 members of the public, anglers, industry professionals, conservation groups, non-profit workers and government representatives.

Speakers included experts from the Invasive Species Centre’s Asian Carp Canada and EDRR Program, Invading Species Awareness Program, Three Shores CISMA (Michigan), and Canada’s Sea Lamprey Control Program. The finale was an interactive show-and-tell with both real and replica invasive species specimens. From invertebrates, to fish, to aquatic plants: there was something for everyone!

The Early Detection and Rapid Response Network Ontario is a collaborative project delivered by the Invasive Species Centre and Ontario Invasive Plant Council, with funding by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
