Job title: Communications and Administration Coordinator

Rate of Pay: $43,000-$46,000/annum based on education and experience   

Location: Sault Ste. Marie, ON preferred

Job Summary  

The Communications and Administration Coordinator will be a tactful communicator and agile, technology-minded administrator working internally and externally to help achieve strategic priorities of the organization. They will strategically engage funding recipients, the public, and the media on the issue of invasive species and potential solutions such as granting programs using media engagement, events, and other tactics. The Coordinator will support the organization through internal campaigns and communications, special projects, technological, and administrative support.   

Principal Accountabilities 

The key activities of the Communications and Administration Coordinator is as followed: 

External communications and public relations 

  • Develop communication and event plans 
  • Work with communications team and occasionally vendors to deliver on project communications plans 
  • Dedicated communications coordinator for Phragmites and Invasive Species Action Fund programs 
  • Plan and deliver media events with partners and funding recipients  
  • Proactive media outreach 
  • Spokesperson for projects 
  • Media response point of contact  
  • Event support for conferences, forums, and other events 

Internal communications and administration including special projects 

  • Support grant administration and corporate administration for the organization 
  • Provide general IT and tech (corporate) communications and support to the team in conjunction with external IT service provider and tech lead on communications, including triaging requests to external IT service provider 
  • Implement administrative automation and file retention and information management projects with team (including internal communications and change management) 
  • Ongoing special projects to be determined 
  • Additional duties upon request 

Required Advanced Skills and Competencies in: 

  • Strategic thinking, writing, diplomacy and tact to work with many partners 
  • Public speaking 
  • IT 
  • Organization, time management, and attention to detail 
  • Comfort with scientific and policy information 

Other Requirements  

  • Bilingual in French, English, and/or Indigenous languages would be an asset. 
  • The candidate must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations. 
  • The candidate will need to comply with all ISC policies, including security clearance.
