The Impact of Forest Pests and Pathogens on Climate Resilience
December 11 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Healthy forests have a tremendous amount of potential to reduce and mitigate the impacts of climate change – but forest pests and pathogens can directly threaten those mitigations as they damage and kill trees across the landscape. Leigh Greenwood, Forest Pest and Pathogen Program Director for The Nature Conservancy, will discuss some key research on forest pest and carbon cycles, as well as outline some of the recent recommendations made to the US federal government on how to better plan for a healthier future in light of both climate change and invasive species impacts.
